3 Things Buyers Don’t Want to See
Here are three seemingly simple things that can displease a lot of buyers.
So you’ve decided on selling your house and are now in the preparation phase. Perhaps you’ve already taken care of “the three Ds”: deep clean, declutter, and depersonalize. Before you list, though, you might want to check out this list of the three simple things that we commonly see buyers in today’s market use as a justification for passing on a home:
1. Dirty AC vents. This is a problem not only because it suggests to the buyer an overall lack of maintenance to the system, but because it can actually take years off the life of your system. Clean those vents, and while you’re at it, why not schedule an AC professional to come service your unit?
2. Dusty ceiling fans. When walking into a home, the last thing buyers want to see when they look up is a filthy fan. Wiping down those blades takes hardly any time at all, and it will eliminate an unpleasant distraction.
Clean those vents, and while you’re at it, why not schedule an AC professional to come service your unit?
3. Non-operational smoke detectors. We don’t want to see a missing detector, a dangling detector, or a detector that starts beeping due to low battery power. Here again, the fix is easy: Replace batteries and test every detector in your home.
There you have it: Three small things that, with a proactive approach, you can ensure won’t make a big impact on potential buyers. If you’re thinking about selling and want additional tips or advice on the process, just give me a call or send an email my way. I’d love to hear from you!
