Market-Ready Homes: 5 Practical Tips to Attract Buyers

Make your home sell faster and at a better price with these five tips.
One of the things that you can do to make your home sell faster or bump the price up a bit is to update it before putting it on the market. There’s no need to completely overhaul your home; even minor changes can make a lot of difference, and it sure does mean that you can post better-looking photos, resulting in a more eye-catching listing.
When thinking about upgrading your home, you might think that the cost of doing a home project can add up, and maybe you do not want to spend a substantial amount of money on a home that you are ready to let go of. Which is why I came up with a few suggestions on what you can do to improve your home before selling:
1. Add curb appeal. A buyer’s first look at the property matters a lot. While it is not necessary to fully change the landscaping, keeping it neat and clean makes a lot of difference. You can also paint your front door, replace your old mailbox, add some new flowers, or even change your welcome mat. All of these can make a good first impression already.
2. Restore flooring. Check the state of your flooring, and if it looks a little worn, you might want to consider replacing it. You can also refinish wood floors and steam clean your carpet.

3. Paint the interior walls. Over time, walls can get scuffed and collect dust, making them look dirty. Touching up your walls with a fresh coat of paint, especially in areas that can easily be seen, like the entryway, living area, and kitchen.
4. Change the kitchen aesthetic. Aside from painting the walls in your kitchen, survey whether you need to update how your kitchen looks. You can add a new backsplash using stick-on tiling, which is a cheaper alternative. Touching up your cabinets or upgrading the hardware on your drawers and cabinets can also be done.
5. Brighten up the space. A well-lit room can make your home look bigger. A practical way to do this is to opt for lighter curtains instead of heavy drapes. You can also hang a few mirrors to reflect light that is coming through your home.
These suggestions are a good starting point if you haven’t decided what part of your home to update.
