Q: What’s the Key to Making a Confident Real Estate Decision?
Here are the two steps for making a confident real estate decision.
If you’re in the market to make a real estate purchase, you want to start with a confident decision so you end up with a decision you can be confident in. There are two steps to remember to do this.
First, set practical expectations. There’s no way 100% of all new homeowners out there are super thrilled about the purchase they made or the price at which they purchased their home. Only in hindsight do they get excited. It’s normal to be nervous when you’re buying a house and spending a lot of money—that’s perfectly fine.
What you want is the confidence that the house you’re buying meets your criteria and budget and is in good shape (which is why you’ll get a home inspection), so let go of any notions that this is your dream home or forever home. Find a house that meets your needs today and for the foreseeable future. This will take a lot of stress out of the process.

Second, plan the work and work the plan. Maintain a laser focus on one area—don’t be looking at every home under the sun. After you pick the location, then focus on the criteria. Keep things simple and you’ll find the right house.
